Benjamin Geza Affleck was born on August 15, 1972, in Berkeley, California, but raised in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  Ben also has a younger brother, actor Casey Affleck.  Ben began his acting career as a child appearing on the PBS kids' series “The Voyage of the Mimi” and in several made-for-television movies.  His notable early career films include 1992's “School Ties,” 1993's “Dazed and Confused,” and work with writer and director Kevin Smith in 1995's “Mallrats” and 1997's “Chasing Amy.”  In addition, Affleck and his best friend Matt Damon also played extras in the movie “Field of Dreams.”  Affleck’s big break came in 1997 when he and Damon wrote the screenplay for and starred in the hit film “Good Will Hunting.”  They shared credit and both received the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.

As a result of the success of “Good Will Hunting,” Affleck established himself as a Hollywood leading man with roles in many successful movies including “Armageddon,” “Forces of Nature,” “Pearl Harbor,” “Changing Lanes,” “The Sum of All Fears,” and “Daredevil.”
