Daniel Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe was born in Fulham, London as the only child of Alan Radcliffe, a literary agent, and Marcia Gresham, a casting agent. His father is Protestant and his mother Jewish, about which Radcliffe has stated that he loves being Jewish but is not religious. Daniel's first acting part was as David Copperfield as a young boy in BBC's televised version of the Charles Dickens novel. Radcliffe was asked to audition for the role of Harry Potter in 2000 by producer David Heyman. In August of that year, he was selected to play the role of Harry Potter in the series, but made his first film debut in 2001 with a supporting role alongside Pierce Brosnan in The Tailor of Panama.

In 2006, he began to make the transition from child to adult actor, appearing in the television series Extras as a parody of himself as well as filming the independent Australian film, December Boys. Radcliffe opened on February 27, 2007 in a revival of Peter Shaffer's play Equus as a stable boy who has an obsession with horses. In the play he appears nude in one scene, generating advance sales that topped two million pounds. His performance recieved positive reviews by critics, who were impressed by the nuance and depth of this against-type role for him. When the production transfers to New York City in 2008, Radcliffe may reprise the role, about which he has claimed to be nervous because he considers American audiences to be more discerning that British ones.

During the summer of 2007, he filmed the ITV drama My Boy Jack, scheduled to air in the UK in November 2007 and in 2008 in the U.S. He has also appeared on teh Sunday Times Rich List in 2006 and 2007 as one of the richest younge people in the United Kingdom.
