Denzel Jermaine Washington, Jr. was born on December 28, 1954 and is a two-time Academy Award-winning actor, director and Hollywood leading man. He discovered his interest in acting at Fordham University and landed his first film role in the 1977 made-for-television movie “Wilma.” Washington’s career was transformed with his critically acclaimed role in the Spike Lee movie “Malcolm X.” His performance earned Washington an Oscar nomination. Thereafter, Washington was involved in a series of successful films including “Philadelphia” with Tom Hanks, “The Pelican Brief,” “Crimson Tide” and “Remember the Titans.”
Washington is married to actress Pauletta Pearson and the couple has four children: John David, Katia, Olivia, and Malcolm.
