Eminem

Marshall Bruce Mathers III, better known by his stage name Eminem or Slim Shady, was born on the 17th of October 1972, in Kansas City, Missouri. Son of a fifteen-year-old mother and a father who left six month later never to return, Marshall spent his early childhood being shuffled between Kansas City and Detroit. He settled on the Eastside of Detroit near the East 8 Mile Rd. & Schoenherr intersection when he was 12.  Marshall began rapping at the early age of 4.  Being rejected by most fellow rappers because of his race, Marshall grew an anger that flows through his music to this day.

Mathers got his big break when his talents were discovered by pioneer rapper and producer Dr. Dre, who signed him to his Aftermath Entertainment label, becoming a crossover sensation with his debut single “My Name Is” and simultaneously earning respect for his technical and lyrical ability. 

In 2003 Eminem was named the second most powerful celebrity on the planet. Most recently, on December 5, 2006, Shady Records released “Eminem Presents The Re-Up”, an album compiled in mixtape format. Having sold over 70 million albums, he's the best selling music artist of the decade and century so far and also the most commercially successful hip hop artist in history.
