Gisele Bundchen as born on July 20, 1980. Growing up in Brazil and initially intending on being a volleyball player, Gisel as been acclaimed as the highest paid model in the world. She is currenltyl the face of more than 20 brands from different countries. According to Forbes, she made $33 million in 2006, currnelty listing her in the Guinness World Records as "world's richest supermodel".
Gisele's debut on the cover the July 1999 edition of Vogue Magazine, and the accompanying editorial entitled, "The Return of the Curve" is widely viewed as marking the end of the fashion's "heroin chic" era. She would grace the cover again in November and December on her way to winning the VH1//Vogue Model of the Year for 1999, and a January 2000 cover shot would give her the rare honor of three consecutive Vogue covers in a row. In 2000 she was the fourth model in history to grace the cover of Rolling Stone when she was named "the most beautiful girl in the world"
Gisele could also be considered a little bit of an entrepeneur. She has her own line of sandals with shoes company Grendene, called Ipanema Gisele Bündchen. She made 53rd on Forbes' list of the most powerful celebrities of 2007 due to the success of her popular shoe line, Ipanema. Custom Ipanema flip-flops sell for as much as $230 a pair. She is also the owner of a hotel in the south of Brazil, the Palladium Executive.
