Keanu Charles Reeves was born on September 2, 1964 in Beirut Lebanon. He was named for a Hawaiian word that means “cool breeze over the mountains.” Reeves was a world traveler by the age of two thanks to his father’s career in geology. His mother Patricia Taylor was a showgirl and then a costume designer for both movies and theater. After his parents divorced Reeves moved to New York and then Toronto his mother and sister. Reeves’ interest in ice hockey and acting led him to a nickname “the wall” and his first part in an American film called Youngblood. Reeves’ arguably most famous role was as Neo in “The Matrix” Trilogy. He has also appeared in everything from science fiction to romantic comedy films, including “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventures,” “Speed,” “Constantine,” “A Scanner Darkly,” and “The Lake House.” He is currently working on “The Night Watchman,” set to release in 2008.
