Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant was born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Bryant stands at 6’7” and plays guard for the Los Angeles Lakers.  He is the youngest child of Joe and Pam Bryant. When Kobe was six his parents and two older sisters moved to Italy where his dad played professional basketball. Young Kobe spoke fluent Italian and was very involved with the favorite sport of much of the world: soccer. The Bryant family moved back to the United States in 1991 and Kobe attended Lower Merion High School just outside of Philadelphia. He earned national recognition for his basketball efforts and was drafted in the NBA draft straight out of high school as the 13th pick overall in 1996. Though subject to criticism by some teammates and one woman who brought criminal rape charges against Bryant, he has continued to wow Lakers fans and earn numerous awards in his tenure with the LA Lakers.
