Kylie Ann Minogue was born May 28, 1968 in Melbourne, Australia. Kylie is the eldest of three children; her sister Dannii Minogue is also a pop singer. Kylie's big break came when she was cast as Charlene Mitchell/Robinson on the popular Australian soap opera.
During her time on Neighbours, Kylie recorded her debut single, a remake of the pop track "Loco-Motion." While the soap opera was airing in Britain, music producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman were impressed by the Australian beauty, and decided to transform her into a pop singer just as her Neighbours days drew to a close.
She had a string of successful hit singles including "I Should Be So Lucky," "Got To Be Certain," "Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi," "Hand On Your Heart," "Wouldn't Change A Thing," and "Never Too Late," all off her debut album, Kylie, and her sophomore effort, Enjoy Yourself.
After her role in the 1989 film The Delinquents, Kylie morphed from wholesome pop princess to sexy superstar. This new flirtatious image was underscored by her steamy romance with Michael Hutchence, the late lead singer of INXS.
Since then, Kylie released Kylie Minogue, Kids, Light Years and Fever. She has also appeared in several movies including Street Fighter and Moulin Rouge! Kylie performed "On a Night Like This" at the closing ceremony of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
In 2004, she launched her lingerie line called Love Kylie.
Minogue is regarded as a gay icon, which she encourages with comments such as "I am not a traditional gay icon. There's been no tragedy in my life, only tragic outfits."
In May 2005, she was diagnosed with the early stages of breast cancer. Kylie underwent successful surgery on May 21, 2005 and has had successful treatment for her illness. During her convalescence she wrote the children’s book, the Showgirl Princess and she launched her perfume, Darling.
Her relationships, including her current relationship with French actor Olivier Martinez have been extensively reported as well.
