  • my vote goes 2 meryl streep..... mama mia
  • I was one of thousands of people who voted in the first round of the People's choice Awards. Here are some of the nominees that I voted for that didn't make it to the final three. For Favorite Aminated Movie, I had a write-in vote for "total Drama Island." For Favorite Talk show Host, I had a write in vote for "Bonnie Hunt." For Favorite Independant Movie, I voted for "the visitor," and For Favorite Science Fiction, I voted for "Dr. Who." I lookinf forward in watching the People's choice Awards in January. would it be great if I can see the show live? I voted for them, I should be seeing them live.
  • The show was appallingly bad. Tommy Smothers --- with whom I grew up -- was either drunk or stoned and doesn't know an awards show is NOT the place to preach 1960s radical politics. Steven Colbert and the other guy (whose name slips my mind) were NOT funny. America Ferreira from "Ugly Betty" was absolutely super stuffed into that dress. And who is the woman who wore the black sleeveless top and the red skirt? That should go on KoJo's WORST DRESS of the night! Too bad because the woman's hair was very pretty, draping on her shoulders and pulled bank with a thin headband. And Alec Baldwin looked FAT and OLD. His face was pasty and his eyes were glazed over. He should have left the USA as he said he would if George Bush was elected president! Alec should run for office - he'd be yet another politician who doesn't keep his promises. What a novel idea!
Christina Applegate looked radiant and she showed you don't have to let cancer or a double mastectomystop you from looking beautiful.
I disagree wit KoJo about hair - I like the so-called big hair -- the long, wavy flowing styles on Kyra Sedgwick and America Ferreira (she should have stopped at the hair; that was fine. Everything below her head sucked). The so-called big hair was soft, feminine and...combed! In previous years, actresses have come to the Emmys looking like they just rolled out of bed and into a dress, with NO thought about styling their hair. Cameron Diaz is notorious for that.
Oh, and WHAT IS THIS WITH THE MEN NOT SHAVING????? THAT IS SO GROSS! C'MON GUYS -- we have to look at you! That look may have been fine in the days of the Neanderthals but not in 2008! You guys make enough money -- certainly you can afford a razor with blades and foam ... or even an electric razor!
But my biggest complaint: THAT MY HEART-THROB, HUGH LAURIE, (WHO ALSO NEEDS A SHAVE) DIDN'T WIN AN AWARD FOR "HOUSE." I LOVE THAT SHOW AND I LOVE HIM SO WHOEVER GIVES OUT THE EMMYS REALLY FLOPPED THIS YEAR! GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD, BOYS AND GIRLS. LEAVE TOMMY SMOTHERS HOME, DO NOT GIVE EMMYS TO REALITY SHOWS (WHICH ARE SO UN-REAL) AND MAKE SURE THE GUYS SHAVE AND THAT THE CELEBS WASH AND COMB THEIR HAIR. To paraphrase the old deodorant commercial: "Cute or not, if he smells (or if he looks dirty and unshaven) it's OVER."
