I saw the "Stand up to Cancer" special last friday and I was moved by the support of the Hollywood community. I hope it will be an annual event until they find a cure for cancer.

This is such a good effort. everyone who has participated in this song is so great! It is good to see that people really care about human issues like cancer. I know many people who are affected by cancer and it really helps to see people actually care. Thanks everyone!

Having had dealings with cancer for nearly 40 of my 55 years, I know full well what a devastating disease it is. I've lost a grandmother and a young cousin to this disease. But 2 things bother me about this "Stand Up to Cancer" telethon taking place next week. #1.) I notice most of the guests are part of the Hollywood Left. I know cancer isn't and should never be a political disease but how come there are no people from the right on the guest roster?
#2.) I hope the evening isn't spent talking
only about breast cancer. I know full well how serious this disease is but it certainly isn't the only kind of cancer there is (though it seems to be the only one we ever hear about - if I see one more pink thing, it'll be too soon. We never see purple for pancreatic cancer or clear (white) for lung cancer) and it isn'always fatal the way lung cancer and pancreatic cancer are.
3.) I also hope this won't be just a parade of celebrities such as Katie Couric who have lost loved ones to cancer. Ordinary people have lost people to cancer, too, but we never hear from them. We hear about Katie Couric (who drives me crazy because she's so PERKY) and others but there are so many who suffer either from the disease or from watching a loved one suffer and die from the disease. -
