See More... Hollywood legend Morgan Freeman harboured journalistic intentions before embarking on a career as an actor. He was a writer for a newswire service. The Academy Award winner had dreams of becoming an actor at an early age, but was forced into another career after moving to New York and discovering he was desperate for cash. He says, “I didn’t have much in the way of money, so I had to crank it up some other way. I found a job with an outfit called Press Wireless as a telegrapher. “Correspondents from around the world sent all of their dispatchers into Press Wireless and we sent them to whatever newspaper they were scheduled to do. “I was working in October, November, December and January of 1960/61. It was an exciting time to work. That was when Fidel Castro took over Cuba.” Freeman is currently starring alongside Angelina Jolie in his latest movie “Wanted.”
