Jerry O'Connell: Anniversary to Be with In-Laws

Their first wedding anniversary was Monday, but Jerry O'Connell and Rebecca Romijn had to spend it on opposite coasts.

O'Connell, 34, spent the day in Los Angeles at the Television Critics Association conference promoting his new Fox sitcom Do Not Disturb, while Romijn, 35, was at work on the third season of Ugly Betty in New York.

The distance hasn't been a strain for the couple, says O'Connell, adding that they keep in touch by texting and emailing photos on their iPhones.

"The only trying thing might be it's a lot of in-law time for Rebecca, because my parents live in New York," O'Connell joked. "I think Rebecca is being very patient and nice about it."

Production on O'Connell's show doesn't start until August, so until then he'll likely return to New York, where the couple – who married in an intimate ceremony a year ago – enjoy "just walking around, eating at outdoor restaurants" and spending time at his parents' Long Island home, says O'Connell.

So how will they finally celebrate when they reunite this weekend?

"I wish I had something sexy and all Brangelina to tell you where we're going to go flying," he says. "But it's really just going to be my in-laws crowding us."
