Alison Arngrim
Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson on “Little House on the Prairie”) is coming to the Cutting Room on August 13 to do her show, "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch". And she is a great interview. Her one-woman show dishes her experiences on “Little House,” what it felt like to be the bitchiest child star ever (!!), and growing up in Hollywood. And does Arngrim ever know the inside scoops: Her dad Thor was the manager for Liberace and Christine Jorgenson (the first transsexual, who became a cabaret star); her mother Norma was the voice of “Casper the Friendly Ghost,” “Gumby,” and Davey (of “Davey and Goliath”), and her brother Stefan was on the TV show “Land of the Giants”. Born in Queens, New York, Arngrim is also an AIDS activist (her “Little House” TV husband died of AIDS in the 80s) and is on the Board of Directors of PROTECT, which fights for abused children. She's spoken before the N.Y. State Senate about the need for toughening state laws, been on “The Nancy Grace Show” advocating for abused children, and is open about having been sexually abused as a child (not by her dad). She is also a veteran of “The Love Boat” and “Fantasy Island,” and won a TV Land Award. She also appeared in the intro to this year's TV Land Awards.
