The gorgeous and talented actress, writer and director Soleil Moon Frye as a mother is a far cry from the real parents of Punky Brewster, the main character whom she played in the immensely successful sitcom that lasted four seasons in the ‘80s, about a child who was abandoned by her mom and dad in a shopping center in Chicago and was eventually adopted by a widower named Henry. This show made Soleil a household name to this day. She also recently made a touching, award-winning documentary on her father’s battle with Alzheimer’s Disease called “Sonny Boy,” which has gathered acclaim among different award-giving bodies. The title was based from her dad’s nickname, “Sonny,” which is what he was called as a boxer. She’ll be seen on the big screen again soon, on a movie with Janeane Garofalo and Rebecca Gayheart titled, “For Better Or For Worse,” and is excited about this new project. Although she is always a hands-on mom to two beautiful girls first, Soleil is also a proud entrepreneur who co-owns an eco-friendly boutique located in Los Angeles called, “The Little Seed.” Boasting of a wide array of environmentally-conscious wares, the store is a one-stop, inviting shopping sanctuary for parents looking for safe products for their children—complete from the store’s recycled bags, to its no V.O.C. paint on the walls. With a toddler and infant now in tow, Soleil welcomed us into her lovely Moroccan-inspired abode—chronicling both her pre- and post- second pregnancy. Now fine-tuning her parenting skills to the beat of a toddler and an infant, she also filled us in on how to keep marriages intact, on her babies’ distinctive names, learning the ropes of retailing, and on growing up on a Hollywood set, Punky-style.
