Sources confirm to "The Insider" that 36-year-old "Samantha Who" star Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

A rep for the actress tells "The Insider": "Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor-ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time."

The revelation comes shortly after Applegate was announced as one of several celebrities to participate in the upcoming "Stand Up To Cancer" benefit to air on NBC, ABC and CBS on September 5.

The star rose to fame as a teenager on the FOX network's "Married with Children."

  • I work in a medical office where we're seeing late 30s and early 40s breast cancers more frequently. Some even younger than that. It's scary. We even see men with breast cancer from time to time. I'm glad that Christina's was detected early and pray she makes a quick recovery. Hang in there girl!

  • It is up setting when someone has cancer. My mom had ovarian cancer. She was 81 when she died. And my dad has prostate cancer. He has had it for 6 years. And he is 88. So I know what she is going through. But you still I have to have hope. That everything well work out OK. And pray.

  • I am so happy for Christina that they caught it in time for her to resolve and move on. Cancer is horrible, my grandmother whom I never knew died at 38 from ovarian, my mom from lung cancer and a brother most recently from lymphoma also a first cousin of my mom with breast. Christina had mentioned she would like to start funding for MRI and I have to hand it to her as I know I cannot afford a total body scan which I would love to have. Instead they expect me to do every test which is radical and instead of giving me a full scan which by the way they say they cannot do unless you have some prediagnosed cancer !! but with all the immediate family dying from cancer and is not segregated to one area, i as a single mom would lose a lot of time from work for these test for each and every one they want me to have, and not only will i not be paid because it is considered an appointment ! i have to put my body one part a a time through hell. With my Mom with lung they have never suggested an exray, with lymphoma they have never suggested a blood test. All they do is what is available, mammograms, pap smears and the all time new one the colonoscopy! what about the rest of the body which has affected half of the deaths cancer related. If there is a way that anyone knows how I could get in touch with Christina please let me know.
my email is ecjg21@yahoo.com !! thank you!
