LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Jailed hotel heiress and reality TV star Paris Hilton is to be released from prison on June 26, 18 days after she was ordered back behind bars following her controversial early release, Los Angeles officials said Friday.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputy Dana Camarillo said Hilton would now be freed next Tuesday after previously indicating Hilton would be released on Monday.

"As a result of numerous inquiries, it has come to our attention that clarification is necessary regarding the actual release date of Paris Hilton," Camarillo said.

"In the case of Ms. Hilton, records specialists from the Inmate Reception Center have calculated her actual release date to be Tuesday, June 26, 2007," Camarillo added.

Hilton was given a 45-day jail sentence last month for violating her probation on an alcohol-related driving charge by continuing to drive on a suspended license.

Her early release into house arrest after serving just a few days jail provoked uproar earlier this month before she was ordered back to prison, sobbing and wailing as she was led from court.
