Female Vibe counterpart Vixen folds Vibe Vixen is history. The female answer to the urban music and lifestyle magazine Vibe is apparently a victim of new management, folding barely two weeks after Steve Aaron became CEO of Vibe Media Group. Vixen’s last issue is August/September; starting in the fourth quarter, it will be published as special themed issue focusing on urban culture. Unlike some other recent shuttered magazines, such as Jane, Vixen’s web site will continue. As a result of the magazine’s closure, Aaron said in a release, that there will be some layoffs, but executives refused to comment further. Vixen was launched as a twice-a-year tle in February 2005 with a circulation of 425,000. It was upped to publish six times annually this year. The Publishers Information Bureau reported that ad pages for the first half of 2007 totaled 147
