Justin Timberlake Pictures: Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé Top VMA Nominations

Justin Timberlake and Beyoncé Knowles have scored a leading seven nominations each for this year's MTV Video Music Awards, it was announced on Total Request Live Tuesday.

Kanye West and Rihanna were just shy of the top spots with five nominations each, while newcomer Amy Winehouse received three.

Timberlake's "What Goes Around ... Comes Around," Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable," West's "Stronger," Rihanna's "Umbrella," Winehouse's "Rehab" and French electro duo Justice's "D.A.N.C.E." will face off for the video of year honors.

West and Rihanna (and sporting a cane) were on TRL Tuesday when the nominations were announced – as were fellow scheduled performers Chris Brown, Timbaland and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz.

MTV also announced that the VMAs will be a one-night stand this year, airing live from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas at 9 p.m. on Sept. 9.

The two-hour show will include eight categories – fan favorites as well as four new slots: Male/female artist of the year, most earthshattering collaboration; monster single of the year and quadruple threat award.

Love them all, I can't wait to see the VMAs. My vote is def. on Beyonce or Justin. I hope Beyonce wins. She just seems so genuine.

Rihanna and Chris Brown make an al-ight couple. The only difference is that he's so cute and handsome, and she's made up to be cute with all the makeup and cutesy little outfits that resymbols sexy. I don't thinl she have the natural true beauty and the natural talent. Her hole package looks rehearshed and put together. She don't have that....umph like Beyonce and Alliyah (God bless the dead). NATURAL DIVAS" Rihanna is in a categlory like a Ashanti... Rihanna must try harder, keep driving for originality and creativity. The game your in "you gotta keep it comming and be sizzling while your doing it. Good Luck, Rihanna, but Chris is better looking and can easily be pulled from from her, if the rumor is true. because she's really not a diva.
