I Like It I Don't Like It
See More... Angelina Jolie revealed recently that she nursed her daughter Shiloh for 3-months, and that she found the act of breastfeeding to be "hard" because of a demanding work schedule and because, she says,"I hate to sit still."

I did it for about three months and that was it.  I don't sit still well.  I ended up walking around a lot with her when I was doing it.

I was pregnant when (we) were preparing ‘A Mighty Heart’. I had Shiloh, then I breastfed,

  • I understand where Angelina Jolie is coming from. Mostly everything about being a mum is hard. But after they are grown up, that's the greatest reword ever.

  • Please leave her alone. I know she is a public figure but she needs private time to heal. I have revently been though a siimilar situation, cruel people at work in particular have commented that my arms are as skinny as Angelina's. I don't want to look like this. I am skeletal, look sick and feel ill most days. This is not my body but I have to accept that for now it is.
The process of healing involves deep faith, support and most of all time.
Give her the time and privacy she needs. Back Off.

  • leave her alone? she loves it! she certainly is a public figure - uses the press - thrives on the attention. she wouldn't be doing what she's doing unless she wanted the following...see more

  • i think quite a few new mothers go thru this and it's good that they can see celebrities have the same challenges. i applaud Angie for trying...even though it must be difficult with her schedule.

  • I breastfed for 23 months. I don't know where Angelina gets off saying the water isn't any good so breastfeeding for 2 years is the "alternative".

  • It is too bad that no one taught her how to nurse the baby while carrying the baby in a sling or pouch--hands free. Nursing should be easy! We all need more role models showing how it is done.

  • I read in a forum that Angelina was taking a natural product ( called something like Sacred tea for nursing mothers or something like that) to increase her breast milk supply, since she had twins. Has any one hear about this product? is this true? I'm a mother having difficulties with my milk supply and doing some search I found that out. Is this true? Is there any "natural" product to increase breast milk supply? if any one knows please contact me as I'm desperated!

    • There are herbal teas that can help increase milk production, like mother's milk tea, or nursing mothers tea. The herb to look for is called fenugreek, which can also be found in capsule form. I nursed both of my children for over 2 years and have worked as a breastfeeding counselor, and can attest that it does help, but there are a number of other factors that need to be considered too, like frequency and length of feedings, adequate hydration of mother, stress level, babies' latch, medications (including certain birth control) and so on. You really should consult someone in person, who may need to observe your babies' latch on (sometimes it's not quite right and not enough milk is transferred from breast to baby). Check out your local La Leche League, WIC office, or ask your pediatrician to recommend a lactation consultant. Good luck to you, and kudos!

  • my son is 19 months old.. bottlefeeding is more difficult than breastfeeding! i agree with the post about a sling. it would make her job easier. of course, cosleeping helps, too. we need more public role models to show breastfeeding in public is easy, and fine!

  • I used a tea composed of fenugreek seeds, blessed thistle and stinging nettle to boost my supply. In the end, my lactation consultant prescribed Domperidone as a temporary boost and it really worked wonders. This is legal in Canada, not sure if it's FDA approved.

  • To the woman having trouble with her milk supply....drink lots of water, eat healthy foods and try not to supplement your baby's feedings with bottles. Your milk supply will increase the more frequently you are feeding the baby. Check out your local hospital for a lacatation specialist. The service is usually free. There are also books and info on the Internet. It does get easier! Good luck
