I Like It I Don't Like It
Tobey Maguire, Kevin Connolly, and Jennifer Meyer at the project7ten opening night party held at the newly built home on October 10, 2007 in Venice, California.

Project7ten proves that ultra green can look ultra good.  This is another cool residential home project that will get LEED certified at the Platinum level.  Actually, as one of only a few LEED Platinum homes in the country, this project could become the discourse for a greener home.  The home was designed by Melinda Gray, founder of GRAYmatter Architecture, and has just completed construction.  The model home is located at  710 Milwood Avenue, Venice, California.

The events, where project7ten was introduced , drew a crazy celebrity crowd with the likes of Pierce Brosnan,  Cindy Crawford,  John Cusack , David Duchovny , Tobey Maguire , Laird Hamilton , Gabrielle Reece, and Ed Begley Jr.

So what's going to make this home so green?  Rainwater reclamation system and grey water recycling, locally-sourced sustainable materials, recycled content countertops and insulation, FSC-certified lumber, solar panels to power the home, and appropriate landscape to shade the home during the summer and allow light during the winter.  Also, there will be Energy Star appliances and Kohler water-efficient fixtures.  The lucky purchaser will get an 18-month lease on a Ford Escape Hybrid, too.  Not too shabby.  Plus, with all the sponsors lined up to support the project, the developer Minimal Productions will donate a share of proceeds to a charity for children.

Come TAKE A GREEN HOME TOUR of one of the few Platinum LEED Certified homes in the country. For a limited time this October 2007, project7ten will be open to the public for tours. This home was built as "GREEN" as possible to serve as an educational model that creates a forum for smart discussion about environmental awareness.

Come walk through, experience and learn about healthier products, the latest GREEN material choices, and energy efficient possibilities that can be achieved NOW when it really can make a positive impact on our future.

This is a collaboration of GREEN Developer TOM SCHEY, Architect MELINDA GRAY and environmentalist KELLY MEYER. Please join us to take a first hand look at project7ten and be inspired to make healthy and  changes in your own lives and communities.

The home is open for public tours from October 11th to October 28th.
