Paula Abdul Slams American Idol?

I Like It I Don't Like It
I'm not sure if Paula Abdul purposely slammed American Idol, but she says she would never have appeared on a talent show to launch her career. She said:

"I don't know that I'd have it in me to put myself out there like that. It's excruciating, soul destroying. Celebrities comes up to me and say: 'Thank God I've made it. I'd hate to have come up through the ranks of the X Factor or American Idol'."

I guess she's trying to make the case to say that it's not easy to go through what the contestants do, however, I'm not sure that calling the show's competion "soul destroying" is going to make the Idol bosses too happy. Yikes.

  • I don't think that's a slam, I think that's just her speaking truthfully.

  • Some people picked that this too much, especially the Paula haters. I can see what she is saying, everyone thinks AI is a big joke and that they give just anyone a record deal. These contestants do go through a lot of hard work to try to do what they love. Even Simon says it isn't easy and for him to say that about the show is a lot. lol
I don't think she is slamming the show either, just trying to make a point that, for some people when they don't get as far as they do, it really destroys them. Some get their hopes up so high, then are greatly disappointed when they don't get too far in the music business. It depends on who you are and how well you can handle pressure & rejection.
