Award-winning singer-actor Robert Goulet died Tuesday in Los Angeles. He was 73. The popular performer passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was awaiting a lung transplant, his spokesman Norm Johnson tells the Associated Press.
A Las Vegas resident, Goulet experienced shortness of breath on Sept. 30 and was rushed to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with interstial pulmonary fibrosis. He was subsequently transferred to Cedars-Sinai in critical condition.

In the hospital, his wife, Vera, said the singer was in a good mood. “Just watch my vocal cords,” she said he told doctors before they inserted a breathing tube.
