2) A Woman of Excellence maintains a positive attitude. And if she gets down, she will not stay there for long. Alicia Keys, one of the most gifted singers of our day, fell down. She held a concert in one of her favorite cities, Washington DC, in an intimate setting of about 200 people, as she likes to do. In these particular settings, she likes to involve the audience. On this particular occasion, some people continued to talk at the back, so she humored them a little. One would think that the rude group would stop talking, but they didn’t. So Alicia addressed them again and even pointed them out, but they still kept talking. She then decided to get up from the piano and make her way over to the rude group, with the prime purpose of really embarrassing them. But when she got up, she forgot that right in front of her, by the piano, stood some big monitors. She got up and had an ugly, we’re talking UGGLLEEEEY spill!! She had her microphone in her hand which hit the ground with her, so the audience got to hear the full impact of The Fall. She lay on the ground, took up the mike and started to sing her classic, I Keep On Fallin'...Now that’s a positive attitude!! She made The Fall part of The Show. And typically women of excellence do this. When things go wrong and they take falls, they maintain a positive attitude. Some also call it presence of mind. It remains not how Alicia fell, for we will all fall, and maybe have some ugly, in-front-of-the-bus-stop-walking-to-the-bathroom-in-the-middlle-of-a-restaurant-at-your-own-concert falls; but what she did while she lay there and when she got up demands our attention. This incident showed a lot about Alicia and the resilience that she derived from her mother. I derived a similar strength from my mother.
