Jessica Simpson's Father Plays Matchmaker For Quarterback Tony Romo

It appears Joe was the middle man that lead to Tony landing a date with his daughter Jessica, according to a report the New York Post.

“Joe and Tony have been friendly for a while. Joe is a huge Dallas Cowboy fan, and Tony has always had a crush on her - he even said on his Web site like a year ago that it was his dream to date her,” a source close to Jessica told the New York Post .

It appears geography also played it’s part in Jessica and Tony becoming an item.

“Jessica has been in Nashville and Dallas recording her new country album. When Tony found out, he called Joe and said, ‘I know she’s not dating anyone right now, can I take her out for a drink at least?‘ Jessica said it was OK for Joe to give Tony her number and they hit it off. They’ve been dating for a couple of weeks now, and Jessica is so happy. She’s been texting everyone about how great he is,” the source added.

Jessica is just the latest starlet who has been romantically linked to the football star. Following his break-up from country cutie Carrie Underwood and and “One Tree Hill” siren Sophia Bush.

Though Romo was reportedly linked to Britney Spears, Brit’s pal Alli Simms told People. “The story is untrue. Tony is a gentleman, and Britney wouldn’t do that, especially to a good friend of mine.”

Coincidentally, before dating Underwood earlier this year, back in November 2006, Jessica was the first celebrity Tony was linked to when he first burst onto the NFL scene.

A rep for Jessica declined to comment on her personal life but said, “She is happily recording her country album.”
