Tongues have always wagged in speculation about what Hollywood hunk held the keys to Jodie Foster's heart - but it turns out it was no hunk after all!  Celebrity Crust shares:

Jodie Foster shocked Hollywood this week when she publicly acknowledging her same-sex lover, Cydney Bernard (pictured below) of almost 20 years for the first time ever. Jodie has always been secretive about her relationship.

But on Tuesday, Jodie shockingly thanked “my beautiful Cydney who sticks with me through all the rotten and the bliss” in her speech when accepting Sherry Lansing Leadership Award at the 16th annual Women in Entertainment Power 100 breakfast.

Cydney has been Jodie’s longtime partner and co-mother of their children.

Congratulations, Jodie!

  • Dang…I am really dissapointed in her lifstyle CHOICE!! Yes it is her choice and she lives in America so she can have it. I will never beable to watch her again in a hetero role…wont seem normal now. Still think she seems nice, just dissapointed in her choice and wish she would have stayed “in”. This will truly hurt her beautiful children. Awww Jodie….wish you could have normal sexual attraction. I too have the right to express how I feel.

  • anonymous, it is sad that that u think by jodie acknowledging cydney in her speech it would hurt their children, i am sure that they are very level headed individuals and more than capable of dealing with the outcomes if any, after all they are a family unit ( by choice) and i think u should respect that, yes u have a right to comment but its 2007 nearly 2008 and to be honest by jodie saying thanks only verbally confirms what everybody already knew. so sorry ur so upset but thats life mate !

  • I don't know why it would disappoint you that she acknowledges her partner. That really is none of your business or ours to be honest. She acknowledged her for herself and her partner not the fans. She is an actress who gets paid for entertaining the public. That is as far as it goes with the connection between the public and her. She is also a human being who has the right to love who she wishes. You do have a right to your opinion about her movie rolls and the parts she plays but have no right to her personal life.

  • Anonymous, I saw your comment on another site. Whether you're Mitch or Anonymous or whomever, you're still ignorant. Homosexuality is not a choice, and who people happen to fall in love with is none of your concern!

  • I don't know why everybody is so shocked. A lot of people have been wondering why she hasn't admitted it before, but i guess the ignorance and prejudging from Anonymous above answers that question. I love Jodie and think she awesome. I've loved her since i saw her in "candle shoe" way back when. She's outstanding! I am very pleased to see the positive comments listed above. Nice to see the world is becoming more accepting of EVERYBODY, not those only who think and act like somebody thinks they should.
Who declares what is NORMAL? what is normal for me may not be normal for you, but that doesn't make it wrong.I'm glad she feels she can not hide what she has no need to hide. It's her life and she has the write to live it as SHE sees fit.

  • People can't stand it when people are happy and ok with their lives. Jodi probably hasn't "officially" come out before now because of just what has happened. I'm sure anyone that is dear and near to them know of their relationship. It's all over the internet. I don;t think this makes her any less of an actress, mother or lover. Leasve her the hell alone

  • To the first comment from the so ignorant person to say " there dissapointed in Miss Fosters lifestyle CHOICE." what a donk if it is in you opinion a choice then I am truly sad for you choosing to be heterosexual. My goodness this is 2008 is it not time for ignorant people such as you to wake up.. I will pray for any of your children/granchildren who happen to be born gay.
Shes a human being what happens in the privacy of our homes is only our business no one elses.
And being gay does not make her any less of a talented actress/directer/mother/partner...

  • Ignorant, fearful people are the reason people choose not to come out. For those comments we simply ignore you; Labels are not necessary when it comes to love. I too am partnered with a woman... successful, educated, fulfilled and our children are two of the most popular, well-adjusted kids in their peer groups.
Congratulations Jodie, we wish you peace and love in your life.

  • I have no idea if this is true. But, if it is I oddly must say I'm now a greater fan of Jodie. I have always been a huge fan of Jodie Foster. The thought of her being a lesbian is rather encouraging. It makes me feel proud to say I am gay also. People shouldn't be against what they don't understand. It is not a sickness or a disease, and if Jodie is gay, well, she shouldn't have to hide it for you. Besides she's an actress, if her character is straight, that's the way they are. I know plenty of straight people who have played gay roles.
