Tobey Maguire's In-Laws Eco-Friendly House Project- Project7Ten- goes Green on EBAY!

The starting auction price of $2.85 million may sound like a lot of "GREEN", but the ultimate buyer will actually get a lot more "GREEN" than one would expect in a house purchase. One of only a few LEED Platinum Certified homes in the country, project7ten was built as green as possible to serve as an educational model that creates a forum for smart discussion about environmental awareness.

This new eco-home is located in the ultra-hip area of Venice, California where many celebrities have been building new homes. It was an acknowledgment on the benefits of solar panels by actor and activist Ian McKellen coupled with the viewing of Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" that spearheaded Tom Schey into action. He began conceiving different ways in which he could broadly educate society about reaching environmentally conscious choices in their everyday lives, while leaving an indelible mark and message on our planet. And so project7ten was born.

Project7ten is so eco-hip that celebs like Cindy Crawford, Pierce Brosnan, John Cusack, David Duchovny, Tobey McGuire, Laird Hamilton, Gabrielle Reece, Kevin Connolly, Esai Morales, Laura Dern, and Josie Maran and Ed Begley Jr. have all checked it out, with many of these celebrities attending the private house opening party.

The home uses solar panels, high-performance windows and insulation, and recycled and renewable materials. Some key green features include a rainwater reclamation system and grey water recycling, locally-sourced sustainable materials, recycled content countertops and insulation, FSC-certified lumber, rooftop solar panels, native landscaping for shading, Energy Star appliances, and Kohler water-efficient fixtures.

The buyer of this unique home will likely "feel good" for several reasons. With the purchase of this property offering a healthier environment, the buyer will get a free 18-month lease on a Ford Escape Hybrid. In addition, a portion of the sale of project7ten is being donated to Healthy Child Healthy World (HCHW), an organization dedicated to educating the public about environmental toxins that affect children's health.
