The widow of late Ike Turner has reportedly begged first wife Tina Turner to forgive Ike because he "helped" her during their marriage. Ike Turner passed away at his home in San Marcos, California on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at age 76.

During Tina's marriage of 18 years with Ike, he was a cocaine addict and physically abused her which resulted in divorce in 1976. When media asked for a statement from Tina after news of Ike's passing, her rep stated that Tina had no contact with Ike for the past 35 years and no further statement would be made.

Ike's widow Jeanette Turner is hoping Tina will forgive him though, calling him:

"a good human being".

Jeanette said:

"I know that she [Tina] was hurt. But there's something called forgiveness and I know Ike really forgave himself, which is really hard to do. I'm not defending what he did. I'm not saying he didn't do what he did when he was with Tina or me. But he was a human being. And being all of that, he's still a child-like person- pure and a good person always willing to help people. He was a human being and he helped Tina... he helped a lot of people."

I think it's awful that Ike's widow would publicly ask Tina to forgive the man that beat her regardless of him ever helping her launch her career in music. If Jeanette forgave Ike for whatever he may have done to her, then leave it at that. If Tina never forgives him, it's very understandable, isn'? And if Ike forgave himself already, let him rest in peace.
