Paris Hilton Pictures: Why did Barron Hilton leave most of $2.3 billion fortune to charity?

When it was announced today that most of a $2.3 billion fortune of 80 year old Barron Hilton will go to charity, the title of a Reuters story was “Paris loses out: Hilton fortune pledged to charity” with the opening sentence stating: “Hotel heiress Paris Hilton’s potential inheritance dramatically diminished after her grandfather Barron Hilton announced plans on Wednesday to donate 97 percent of his $2.3 billion fortune to charity.”

Why did Barron do what he did?

The most important thing is not Paris, but the people in need that this money, so much money, will help.
