The couple was vacationing in Hawaii when Newsom popped the question on Dec. 29 with positive results. They have yet to set a date according to a friend who spoke with them both afterwards, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
This will be the first marriage for Siebel, 33, and the second for Newsom, 40, whose four-year match with Kimberly Guilfoyle, now remarried and hosting Fox News' The Lineup, ended in March 2006.
The mayor and the actress met on a blind date set up by mutual friends in October 2006 at the Artists Ball at Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. Siebel, who has enjoyed a recurring guest spot on the NBC police drama Life, also appeared in In the Valley of Elah, starring Tommy Lee Jones and Charlize Theron.
"I actually think they were made for one another," close friend and party planner Stanlee Gatti told the Chronicle. "You know the kind of thing where people finish each other's sentences? They do. Yet they're respectful of each other. They're pretty in sync with the way they feel about some things."
