I Like It I Don't Like It
Actor Johnny Depp was so grateful to the staff at the Great Ormond Street Hospital that he recently donated over £1M ($2M) to the hospital to say thanks for saving his daughter's life.

Johnny's daughter with singer Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose (shown above), was admitted for emergency treatment at the hospital last March (2007), when her kidneys failed.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has said of Lily's illness: "It was the most frightening thing we have ever been through. It was hell. But the magic is that she pulled through beautifully. Great Ormond Street was terrific, a great hospital."

The sweet-natured star recently invited five doctors and nurses from the hospital to be VIP guests at the premiere of his new film, Sweeney Todd.

And, since we're on the subject, the trailer for the new film, and a bit of Johnny arriving in Tokyo to promote the flic: (video clips)

  • That's his son, Jack, not Lily-Rose.

  • Thanks. I knew that, too. His daughter is a little ahead of them with the nanny, but out of range of the photographer.
