See More... Zac Efron was hospitalized Tuesday for an appendectomy, his rep tells PEOPLE.

The 20-year-old High School Musical star was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for the surgery.

"Zac had his appendix removed and is recuperating," the rep says.

Efron, who just signed on for a third installment of High School Musical, is currently shooting the feature Seventeen with Matthew Perry.

The surgery was first reported by TMZ.com.
