The upshot is that Brit left UCLA Medical Center this morning - yes, well before the end of her 14 day psychiatric hold (but just in time for her Rolling Stone cover!). From Sponkit:
Britney Spears was released after a week of treatment at the UCLA Medical Center.
A private security detail escorted the singer from the hospital around noon. UCLA Medical Center Media liaison Mark Wheeler revealed that the hospital will “absolutely not” confirm or deny that Spears was released. Wheeler said the hospital has no plans to release a statement at this time due to patient confidentiality laws.
A law enforcement source said that UCLA released her “because she was no longer required to stay there after 11:30 AM” and that she was no longer deemed a threat to herself or others.
But it's Britney, honey - so you know that's not all! After a brief stop at home, she scooped up Adnan and they headed to the Beverly Hills Hotel. Love B Scott tells us, " She entered the hotel after the police arrived and broke up the paparazzi swarm that surrounded her new black Mercedes-Benz."
They weren't there long, though (wonder what they were doing, and couldn't they have picked a cheaper place for it??), and last we heard Brit is finally back home.
We understand her parents are very upset at her release and rightly so - they actually stepped up to the plate and took care of her for once and now she's undoing it all. Too little, too late? Maybe so. Read their statement at The Evil Beet.

Will Britney's next album be a success?
