Avril Lavigne Was Almost Boycotted

Is Avril Lavigne just cheap, or maybe she is pregnant and trying to save up some money?  Why else would she have tried to stiff the backup dancers for her upcoming tour?  You’d think she would have learned a thing or two from the WGA Strike…   and we think Gabby Babble agrees….

Avril Lavigne has reportedly agreed to reconsider her backing dancers' pay after the dance community threatened to boycott her. Apparently she was planning to pay her dancers below the standard rate for her upcoming tour which caused the Dancers' Alliance group to recommend a boycott of her L.A. auditions yesterday. The Dancers' Alliance wrote a statement on their MySpace page:

"Avril's management has canceled the audition… and has opened up a new conversation with the agencies. Thanks for everyone's support on this issue."

Should anyone be surprised that she was trying to save a few bucks on the backs of the supporting entertainers? She seems to piss off a lot of people these days.

Avril's management made these arrangements, but once Avril found out that people were upset she asked her management to renegotiate the dancers pay. Avril was only planning on using dancer on four songs on her upcoming concert tour. Avril has always had a reputation for always paying her staff fairly. Avril has instructed her management to pay her dancers fairly in the new negotiations. People a making to big of a deal out of this situation just to grab cheap headlines.
