Apparently Oprah Winfrey – the highest paid TV entertainer of 2007, and the richest self-made woman in America - doesn’t think she makes quite enough money. So she’s opened a shop where she can sell stuff from her show and get even richer. We hope this venture fares better than her girls' school in South Africa. Would you shop at Oprah’s store? Gossip Boulevard tells us more:
Chat show queen Oprah Winfrey has opened her first retail store in the US. The 5,500 square-foot shop, in the heart of Chicago, features hundreds of items representing her style. It is filled with inspirational and informative books, comfortable clothes and goods bearing Winfrey’s trademark “O” - including velour tracksuits with the “O” zipper. Among the book on sale are titles by poet Maya Angelou and diet doctor Mehmet Oz. “It’s a specialty store full of merchandise that represents the style and taste Oprah celebrates and shares on The Oprah Winfrey Show, ” her publicist said in a statement. “The interior was created to evoke a loft-like urban feel with exposed ceiling along with the extensive use of bamboo wood, brushed metals and green chocolate-flaked marble.” According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the most popular items at The Oprah Store when it opened on Thursday were $13 cosmetics bags decorated with blue, yellow, pink and purple Os. Shoppers can also pick up an $8 handmade keychain or buy a pair of $300 crocodile boots. The approximately 900 products in the shop include souvenirs, “lounge, workout and luxury apparel; O Baby: a signature line of baby products; and select South African arts and crafts,” according to a statement.
