Cate Blanchett

I Like It I Don't Like It

She's played a queen (twice), a man, and an elf.  With a resume like that, Cate Blanchett has to be one of the most versatile actresses in the industry today.

Now this Hollywood powerhouse is up for an Academy Award "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and a best supporting actress Oscar for her gender bending turn as Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There".  And Cate's already taken home one of the little gold men for her role as Katherine Hepburn in "The Aviator".  With two nods this season, we can't help but assume that the stunning screen star is bound to get a second statuette.

Cate, who originally hails from Australia, splits her time between Sydney and the filming capitals of the world. She and hubby Andrew Upton, who's a playwright and screenwriter, have two little tykes with another due in April.

How does this working mom handle it all?  By scaling back her projects and sticking closer to home.  Cate and Andrew have signed on to be co-directors of a theater company in Sydney and she's taking voiceover work during her pregnancy.  Let's hope she's back on her feet and on the silver screen soon!

What do you think of Cate Blanchett?

  • Dear Ms Blanchett,

I have written a sci-fi script, GODZ GARDEN, retaining all the usual testosterone elements of the genre, but incorporating family and political elements of interest to women.
If interested in reviewing the script please either contact me at jjpalazzii @ yahoo.com, tel. 804 815 4137, or entertainment lawyer, Diane Leigh Davison, (410) 486 0900 / diane@lawgal.net.
Should you, or an assistant, decide to review the script, please let me know if you think Dame Judi Dench might be interested in the role of Tulyp!
Look forward to hearing from you.
