Bob Carter speaking out about Aaron Carter's arrest

Aaron Carter's dad, Bob Carter is speaking out about his arrest.

"I'm just totally floored by this," Carter tells PEOPLE. "Other people suspected he had a problem, but I denied it and didn't believe it. But now I feel hurt and betrayed, because I see that everything wasn't what I thought it was."

It's sad. I did meet Aaron back in 2004 and he was extremely upbeat and funny and loved seeing his fans. However, deep down I felt he wasn't happy. It's sad. His parents unfortunately have failed him and he ws never disiplined in the right way when he was young. I wish him well.
