I Like It I Don't Like It
JK Rowling has admitted that following the break up of her first marriage she became so depressed that she contemplated suicide.

"We're talking suicidal thoughts here, we're not talking 'I'm a little bit miserable'," she told an Edinburgh University student magazine.

"I definitely had leanings towards depression from quite an early age," she said in an interview with Adeel Amini for the magazine.

"Then, mid-20s, life circumstances were poor and I really plummeted.

"The thing that made me face the fact that this was not a normal state that I was in was probably my daughter."

The counselling she then received helped her to "get out" of her depression, she added. "The funny thing is, I have never been remotely ashamed of having been depressed. Never."

She urged anybody suffering from depression to "go and get help".

"I went through a really rough time and I'm quite proud of the fact that I got out of that," she added.
