Olivia Newton-John's daughter said her superstar mum's travel schedule meant she "spent a lot of time alone in big houses".
The revelations came on the new US talent show, Rock the Cradle.
The 22-year-old singer is one of nine famous offspring competing for a record contract with a major US music label.
During an interview on the show, Lattanzi opened up about her early life.
"My mum travelled a lot so I think I missed out a lot when I was younger," she said. "I suffered from anorexia and that has been the darkest time in my life."
A nervous Lattanzi made a less-than-stellar debut on the show with her rendition of the INXS classic, Never Tear Us Apart.
She will find out if she survived the first cut this week when the audience vote is announced.
She pursued a singing career for several years, releasing her years-in-the-making debut album, No Pain, independently after she split last year with record label Warners over creative differences.
Newton-John set off this week on her gruelling 228km fundraising trek from the Great Wall to Beijing, with boyfriend, health guru John Easterling, by her side. source
