Celebrities and compassion rarely intermingle unless cameras are rolling and the good deed is broadcast worldwide. Unless, of course, the celebrity at hand is Johnny Depp. I mean really, as if we weren't in love enough with the unconventional actor... Dotspotter user, Jensen69, has the heartwarming story...
Johnny Depp is one my favorite actors and a charitable human being to boot. The star of Pirates of the Caribbean personally recorded a voice message for a coma victim. Sophie Wilkinson, a 17-year-old from Southampton, England, was in a car crash that nearly cost her her life. She survived, however, has since been in a coma.
At the request of her parents, Johnny recorded the message for the British teenager and they were overjoyed that he responded to their request. According to the girl's father, "We are looking for the key to wake her up, so we wrote to Johnny and he said he would do the recording in the voice of (his Pirates of the Caribbean character) Jack Sparrow."
Johnny knows all too well the feeling of a distressed parent, having had experienced a similar scare when his daughter, Lily-Rose, was in the hospital suffering from kidney failure last year. Since then, he has also donated nearly $2 million to the hospital where she was treated.
