Think you got what it takes to replace Scott Weiland? Velvet Revolver are ready to find out. An in-the-works Web site will reportedly enable the band to audition singers via the Internet. Weiland, as previously reported, was fired from the band on April Fool's Day and continues to trade (nasty) remarks with his former bandmates.
In an interview with Billboard, lead guitarist Slash gave out the information: "The band is actually talking about ... building a Web site [and] doing some auditions via that, so that's been something that's developing at this point." Slash mentioned that it should happen "in the next month or so."
Although not mentioning anyone in particular, Slash added, "We're at that point of just listening to different things ... it's one of those kind of situations where you can't really explain it to anybody because you'll know it when you hear it."
Velvet Revolver have a previously booked gig in Las Vegas that will feature various rockers taking on lead-vocalist duties. Who might those rockers be? As Slash told Billboard.com, "I'm not gonna name any names, but a bunch of well-known people will get up and sing some songs, and then also bring up a couple people that we think are pretty good and might sing a couple songs. So it'd just be for fun."
As previously reported, Scott Weiland has reunited with Stone Temple Pilots and recently announced a tour of North American for this summer.
