The wannabee gangsta that is Akon has been outted as a fraud. Akon built his record label ‘Konvict music’ around the image that he was a convicted criminal. In the video for Akon’s debut single, aptly tled ‘locked up’ he parades around in an orange jumpsuit that real convicted criminals wear and does the whole behind bars thing.

However, US website Smoking Gun checked up on Akons dodgy past and found that he only served 5 months in jail for driving a stolen car and not the 4 years he led people to believe to up his credibility.

Akon’s about as gangsta as my gran. How sad!
