Poor Jordan! At one point it seemed as though Simon Cowell was the biggest obstacle on her path, but now a serious throat injury threatens to derail her blossoming career. Dotspotter user GabbyBabble has the story.
The reigning American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks has reportedly been struck with a career-threatening throat injury. Over the weekend, she was forced to cancel three shows. Jordin's only 18 and is suffering from "an acute vocal cord hemorrhage" according to officials. Ouch!
Unfortunately, Jordin has canceled a concert at Penn State which was scheduled for last night, yesterday's Earth Day Show in Washington D.C. as well as the first night of Alicia Keys tour where she was set to be the opening act for Saturday night. A spokesperson for the Penn State arena revealed:
"Because of the risk of permanent vocal cord damage, Sparks has been ordered to strict vocal rest and will not be able to perform anywhere until her condition improves."
According to University of Pennsylvania's medical website, bleeding in the vocal cord is described as:
"a serious problem . . . caused when a person who has laryngitis uses their voice at the height of infection. Some severe cases may require laser microsurgery."
No one from her family or record label has been able to be reached for comment which is causing worry to Jordin's many fans. On Idol websites, fans were urging others to "pray for Jordin" yesterday.
How sad! That really sucks. I hope she recovers soon and takes it easy for a few months. It's not worth trying to go on with touring if there is a risk she could lose her ability sing forever.
