Sarandon, now 61, used the body art to pay tribute to her three children Eva, Jack and Miles.
But the Oscar-winning star was shocked by how painful the procedure was.
She says, “I got my kids’ initials tattooed on my back. It really hurt. It hurt so much more than I thought it would.”
But the pain did not appear to deter the Dead Man Walking star from returning to the tattoo parlour for another etching: “I got another tattoo on my wrist afterwards. But I’m going to save the next one until I’m 70 or 80.”
