Denzel Washington reportedly said that kids from inner-city schools need to be reminded that scientists are far more important than entertainers, according to the Associated Press. The Oscar-winner and his wife Pauletta are involved with awarding annual scholarships for neuroscience research to college students.

Washington and Pauletta went to Mount Vernon High School on Friday to make a presentation which happens to be in Washington's hometown of Westchester County, New York. On Friday, they went to Mount Vernon High School in suburban Westchester County. Mount Vernon is Washington's hometown and urged the students to apply for his scholarships.

Good for him and the lucky students - many of them are probably unaware of all of the opportunities available to them - definitely a worthy cause.
