The Queen’s granddaughter yesterday began her unpaid work experience at retail giant Selfridges where she will be working nine to five. The 19-year-old has landed the post prior to beginning her university studies later this year.
Her proud mother, the Dutchess of York, said: "I know there has been criticism of her gap year, but she has overcome her dyslexia and did so well in her A-levels I think she deserves some time off."
Dressed in a smart black dress, belt and flat shoes the Princess’ has already proven to be a competent member of staff selling more than $2,000 worth of stock including an $ 1,650 Matthew Williamson dress and a $6,20 Burberry jacket.
While Selfridges’ remain tight-lipped about her exact duties, Beatrice has been spotted acting as a personal shopper for VIP customers who book their visits in advance. Princes William and Harry both spent their gap years abroad. William spent some time working on a Kenyan wildlife reserve while Harry worked in the Australian outback, including training as a jackaroo - where he rounded up cattle on horseback.
Shoppers are no doubt surprised to see the Beatrice, who is fifth in line to the throne around the store, but Selfridges’ staff have already said she "is a natural." Source
