SOHH NYC: Over a Year Later, Saigon is Still Comparing his Album to Nas’ “Illmatic”

“Back in the day, right… remember that term a “sucka MC”? A sucka MC was somebody who is not supposed to be doin it. I’m trying to bring that back to the forefront. If we got rid of these sucka MCs, hip-hop will be hip-hop again. If you come out with a catchy jingle, or a catchy hook, you can put out a record. Now it’s like it’s so everybody’s allowed to bite, n*ggas is stealing n*ggas’ flows, style. … And that’s what’s making it wack, it became too corporate.
