BEYONCE’S DEREON GIRLS AD CAUSING CONTROVERSY ON THE NET

I Like It I Don't Like It
An old Dereon Ad from last year is now causing controversy on the net. Many are appalled by the display of young four and five-year-old girls in feather boas, lipstick, and 3-inch heels. The House of Dereon ad campaign has been around for quiet awhile, since 2007 to be exact. However it has come under scrutiny from mainstream media who believe that the ad “sexualizes” little girls.

House of Dereon is a fashion line that was introduced by singer Beyoncé Knowles and her mother/stylist Tina Knowles in 2004(wikipedia).

  • I personally see this ad as trying to mimic little girls playing dress up, getting into their mother's makeup and shoes. The media has said that these girls are seductively posed...seriously, these are little girls posing trying to show attude. I know as a child i use to play dress up where my aunt would put makeup on me and do my hair, my cousins and i would dance around. Where is the harm in this? People have to stop making things a bigger deal than what they are, stop trying to read so into this ad that eventually you make something up to be mad about. If this is wrong then there should be a media outlash on those mother's with their daughters in pageants exploiting them, fake tans, flippers (fake teeth) How come that isn't all over the media? There is nothing wrong with this ad. So why don't we start reporting on real news!!
