Kanye West and Keyshia Cole each got three nods, while Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Flo Rida received two nominations.
T-Pain is a singer in his own right, with hits like “Bartender,” and “In Love Wit a Stripper,” to his credit. But he’s also become the go-to guy for catchy hooks and many artists have invited him to guest on their record.
“T-Pain is everywhere,” BET Executive Vice President Stephen Hill told the Associated Press. “He’s got five nominations, none of them for his own work.”
Soul music legend Al Green will be honored with a lifetime achievement award and Quincy Jones will receive an award for his humanitarian work.
The BET Awards will be presented June 24 in Los Angeles.
