Up until last week, it was a smooth, glorious ride on 'American Idol' for David Archuleta. The 17-year-old was a fan favorite and seemed untouchable as the odds-on bet to win this season.

Then things took a rocky turn. His father was banned from backstage to avoid interference, and Archuleta -- who normally cleans up with the show's final performance -- was bumped to an earlier, non-closing slot. Could the golden boy be losing his luster a week before the finals thanks to the show's producers?
