See More... Earle H. Hagen, the Emmy Award winning television composer, died Monday at his home in Rancho Mirage, California.  Hagen was 88 years old.  Hagen wrote the theme music for “The Andy Griffith Show,” “The Dick Van Dyke Show, “I Spy,” “That Girl,” “Gomer Pyle,” “The Mod Squad,” and other classic TV programs.

Hagen’s wife, Laura, confesses he had been in poor health for several months.  She also said, “The music just flowed from him, and he would take off one hat and put on another and go on to the next show.”

Hagen, whose whistling can still be heard on “The Andy Griffith Show”, was an exeptional talent!  He will be missed.
